About me

Since completing my degree in Nutrition and Dietetics

I always knew I wanted to be a Paediatric Dietitian.

I started my paediatric journey doing feeding therapy groups in rural QLD helping children with ASD. My kids called these groups 'Kate's crazy tea parties'.

I then moved to the United Kingdom and participated in clinical hospital roles. I worked in London, Queens Hospital, working as the lead neonatal and paediatric dietitian covering primarily cardiac infants/ neuro-disability patients with gastrostomies, cardiology infants and allergy clinics. I developed my love for babies and allergies here.

In addition I covered the neurodisability and neuro-rehab, cardiology, respiratory and intensive care paediatric wards. This is where I gained all my experience working with tubies!

I then worked in the mater hospital in Brisbane working primarily in neonatal special care and intensive care.

I grew tired of working in the hospital setting as I knew that if I had more time with each patient I could offer everyone an excellent service. Instead there was never enough time to give each patient the care they deserved and you feel disheartened knowing you could give so much more.

This is how Cubs Paediatric Dietetics was born. I decided to combine all my passions for allergy, babies, tubies, gastroenterology and fussy feeding into one service. Now I love what I do and have the time and energy to offer families the clinical care and excellence that they deserve, but now it is available in the community.

My next position was in Oxford at the John Radcliffe Hospital in a tertiary specialist setting. During this time I participated in lead allergy, gastroenterology, surgical, neonatal and oncology roles working closely alongside consultant paediatricians. I developed a passion for gastroenterology from working within an excellent team of paediatric consultants and nurses and supported complex gut issues from metabolic disorders, Crohn's Disease, Coeliac Disease, Eosinophillic Oesophagitis, intestinal resections/ short gut syndrome to complex surgical patients.
